Residence

The family of the President of the Republic of Lithuania lives in a district of government and private houses, Turniškės. The Turniškės, situated on the River Neris, has been listed as a landscape reserve.

The house of the President was built in the inter-war period for Polish officials who then ruled the region of Vilnius. In the last decade the house was refurbished and adapted to serve the needs of the head of state.

Valdas and Alma Adamkus wished to use their funds to furnish the house. They have decorated the Turniškės residence with the furniture, paintings and books that were brought from their previous home in Chicago
